This guidance applies to incidentally discovered thyroid nodules found on CT or MRI in general population. It does not apply to patients with or at high risk for existing thyroid disease or thyroid cancer.

 

Are there any other suspicious CT or MRI findings associated with the nodule?   

           
Yes                

No

Suspicous findings: 

Abnormal lymph nodes(Calcifications, cystic componetns, and/or increased enhancement. Ipsilateral nodes >1.5 cm in short axis for jugulodigastric lymph nodes and >1 cm for other lymph nodes)  and/or

Invasion of local tissues by the thyroid nodule.
